Questions

How is end of service calculated in Saudi Arabia?

Under Article 84 of the Labor Law: half a month's wage for each of the first five years and one month's wage for each year after that, on the last wage. Part years count pro rata.

What if I resign?

Under Article 85: nothing with less than 2 years of service, one third of the award with 2 to 5 years, two thirds with 5 to 10 years, and the whole award with 10 years or more.

When do I get the full award even if I leave?

Under Article 87: when you leave because of force majeure beyond your control, and for a woman who ends her contract within 6 months of marriage or 3 months of giving birth.

Which wage is used - basic or total?

The Labor Law uses the wage, which can include regular allowances (such as housing) - check your contract. Commissions and similar variable pay can be excluded by agreement. Enter the wage your contract uses for the end-of-service award.

Can I lose the award?

A worker dismissed for one of the reasons in Article 80 (serious misconduct) does not get the award.
