How is overtime paid in the UAE?
Under Article 19 of Federal Decree-Law No. 33 of 2021: the wage for normal hours plus at least 25%. Overtime between 10 pm and 4 am, and work on the weekly rest day, earn at least 50% extra (or another day off for the rest day).
How many overtime hours are allowed?
Not more than 2 hours a day, except in the cases the law allows, and total working hours must not pass 144 in three weeks.
Does everyone get overtime?
No. People in supervisory and managerial jobs, and some others named in the Executive Regulations, may not be entitled.
Which wage is used?
This calculator uses the basic wage ÷ 30 ÷ the normal hours of a day, the common practice. Your contract may set a different base.
