Questions
What is included in a UAE final settlement?
Usually: the end-of-service gratuity (if you have at least one year), pay for annual leave you did not take, salary for days worked that were not paid yet, and anything else your contract promises (such as notice pay or a ticket). Amounts you owe the employer can be deducted under the rules of the law.
When must the final settlement be paid?
Within 14 days after the contract ends.
Which wage is used for each part?
Gratuity and unused leave: the basic salary. Salary still owed: your full monthly wage, because that is what you earn for days worked.
What if it is not paid?
You can complain to the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MOHRE), for example through its app, website or call centre (600 590 000).
